Grape juice is certainly a refreshing drink that many people enjoy. On the other hand, it can also cause a stain on your rug, which can cause any rug owner to pull their hair out in frustration. Grape juice spills can result in an ugly dark stain that can really ruin any light colored rugs. Accidents and spills are not uncommon so people may be facing this kind of cleaning problem more often than you think. Removing the grape juice stain from your rug is tough but entirely doable with the proper approach. Here’s what you will need to do in order to effectively remove that nasty grape juice stain and make your rug clean and beautiful again.
For this task, you’ll need to gather the following materials: paper towels, white vinegar, salt, water, a wet/dry vac, and a spray bottle. Once you have these you may proceed to the first step.
Clear your rug of any excess grape juice left over from the spill. Get a paper towel and blot the spill so that the grape juice is absorbed and removed from the rug surface. This step is important so that you can prevent the stain from seeping deeper into the rug and making it worse.
Next, pour some salt onto the stained area and let it set for a few minutes. The salt granules will absorb some of the stain and you’ll notice this when the salt changes its color to a light violet tinge. After about ten minutes, get your wet/dry vac and vacuum up the salt to see if you were able to clean up all of the stain. If there is still some remaining on the rug, just move on to the next step.
Make a cleaning solution using a mixture of one teaspoon of white vinegar and a cup of warm water. Place this inside of a spray bottle and apply a considerable amount of it onto the stain. Then, get a paper towel and start blotting the area. Do this repeatedly until all of the stain is gone.
Rinse the area using some water to make sure that no residue from the cleaning solution is left behind. Dry it off using your wet/dry vac to finish the procedure.
